You can dabble in AI and programming but if you don’t align your projects with real-world problems, you won’t gain significant recognition

Here’s how to ensure your AI projects resonate with industry needs:

Showcase your portfolio

I currently lead AI innovation at my company but here’s the thing. I am entirely self taught as a programmer.

With no background in computer science I would sit down daily with a coffee to build my portfolio of software projects.

Before you start building think about the business problem you are solving. You will get a lot more attention for your portfolio if it solves real problems.

Build your network and reputation

It’s all about who you know. We’ve all heard this.

Get involved with industry professionals. Your credibility will improve.

Add value to community by publishing your knowledge. Any format works!

Here’s a networking hack: introduce people. If you can have two business owners meet and they end up completing a deal. You are automatically raised to the level of those leaders.

Keep learning and updating your skills

If you’re looking to get involved in AI be aware of the exponential rate of development.

Computers are getting more powerful while the actual AI models are getting cheaper to run. Meaning big changes in tech will occur almost daily.

Stay connected to the community while simultaneously educating yourself on your own time. Newsletters and free courses on Youtube are my favorite.

Communicate effectively and clearly

As a consultant, communication is key. Take the time to understand to their goals and objectives.

Starting with a clear understanding you’ll be able to share your deep technical insights in a way that can actually be understood.
